Belari is a former member of the Devilsfall Crew.
Description
Belari is a WoodElf outcast introducing himself as a Drow from the underdark. He claims to be a member of a prestigious clan of the Underdark. His apparel consist of old clothes patched with scraps of leather. He is a decent archer, always carrying a quiver and a bow. He does not mind participating in a battle, provided he can do it from a safe distance.
Origin and Traits
Very little is known about the origin of Belari. He is generally rumoured to have been expelled from his community due to his clumsiness and inability to coexist with others.
Belari is generally mistrusting of everybody and thinks very highly of himself. Because of the Drows' sensitivity to sunlight, he pretends to be not very fond of the 'upper world'. Despite this facade, his stupidity, and short-mindedness are easy to spot.
First Appearance
Belari met the crew at first when they left Tharnbuldor to head for their ship and asked for their help. He tried to 'hire' the Crew to retrieve the Sunstone, which was apparently somewhere in the Thranbuldor Valley. This Sunstone would give him and his family a considerable advantage, as it can store and release sunlight. As Drows are sensitive to sunlight, this could be repurposed as a weapon of mass destruction.
Oratos Orof drew up a contract that granted the Crew an alliance with Belari's family. What the Crew failed to do, was firstly ask Belari for his family name and secondly add any penalties to this contract, should Belari not honour this alliance.
After the Crew has retrieved this Sunstone (see "The Stealth Mission"), he leaves back to the Underdark.
Adventures with the Crew
Belari is met again in a tavern together with Khela. He fails to produce an explanation why the Sunstone help his alleged clan/house and asks to rejoin the Crew. He participates in several adventures from "A new friend" up to "The ass-kicking from Hell" at which point he dies.
During his stay at the ship, he feels uneasy when the undead crew is around. He is particularly terrified by the monkey Rafiki, which likes to scare him whenever an occasion arises - and the Crew happily joins. Belari is very fond of the dishes served by Rashesh. He carries an excessive amounts of the rations in his quiver, much to his Crew's disgust.
His death is generally attributed to his poor understanding of what caves look like. He lost his life failing to hide from an ice cone spell behind a non-existing cave entrance wall. He was buried at sea nearby the Mighttown, his corpse put on a raft and burned.
