The Elvish Academy is the main educational institution for elves in the Democracy, mostly known for their extensive knowledge on nature and its inhabitants. They have locations all around Conder Isle with different faculties for different subjects. The current president is Neremyn Venjor.
History
The Elvish Academy was founded in the year 1677 BC by scholars from around the Democracy, who wanted to share and collect their knowledge for further generations. The known ones were Elincia Holatris, Aolis Ilixidor, Khaurg Vuth and the first President of the Academy was Ardryll Miraquinal. With a partial funding from the Democracy they started to build their first campus in Ullethhil, which finished in 1658 BC. After the first few very successful years the construction on two additional universities started, one in Enmalin (finished in 1630 BC) and one in Alse Edhil (finished in 1627 BC). This infrastructure helped the Democracy a lot, as it provided a quality education for many of its elven citizens.
This is all the information that can be gathered from inscriptions and statues from before the cataclysm. The oldest remaining documents found after the cataclysm can be dated back to the year 94 BC. Those documents contained the seal of the Academy, which is still used to this point. The seal shows an open book surrounded by a laurel wreath, representing the glory and power in knowledge. On the seal is an inscription written in elvish, which roughly translates to "Elvish Academy - together we learn, together we grow".
During the Storms of Anurr in the year 251 some of the buildings in Alse Edhil were destroyed with a small number of casualties, but no important documents or research was lost. The damages took an estimated nine months to repair, during which many students had to share the remaining space, which even showed in the yearly performance statistics.
In the year 668 a pub brawl in Ullethhil between a group of students of noble descent and the local population started over a bad keg of beer. A full protest started as the sons of noblemen demanded more power on and around the university grounds. This protest lasted for over twenty days, when finally Sharian Daxalim, the president at the time, payed a visit to Ullethhil and reminded the students about the loyalty they swore to their superiors and the Democracy. As the technically highest-ranking officer of the Academy he commanded the protests to stop, everyone disobeying the order would be expelled without pardon.
This event started the list of future dictators, which is a list, always guarded by the current president, which contains the names of overzealous and power-hungry nobility. This list was shared with the elven army at the end of every semester, until it was deemed as unnecessary and finally stopped in 970. It was only known to the public after its annulment. Many said this to be a political move by authoritarian politicians, who are afraid their children could end on the list, others claimed that the education in the Academy was so advanced that the list wasn’t necessary anymore.

In 1136 Ayre Bibalar was elected President of the Academy, but as many suspected he was not able to deliver on the promises he made and was terrible in handling money, which lead to his impeachment already six years later.
In 1143 the Academy had to defend their reputation against allegations of gross misconduct of many board members and personnel working at the Academy at the time. Neremyn Venjor, the then residing President managed to keep a clear head, many people were fired and the whole system was reformed. Students received more freedoms in their learning routines, gained access to before restricted materials and had the freedom to visit any lectures they pleased. From then on students weren’t that dependency on their professors anymore, which lead to lesser abuse.
