Brovara
Brovara is a member of the Devilsfall Crew. She joined the Crew after being rescued by them from the Nine Hells.
Description
Brovara is an almost 7 feet tall half-orc - however she prefers to avoid the topic of her origins and considers herself a "half-human" or an "almost human". She wears heavy armour, her weapon of choice is a bulky morningstar, but the most important piece of equipment is her long, towering wooden shield. She also carries around a book with spells and prayers.
Origins and background
Brovara was born in a small farmstead in the mountainous region on the north of the main island, on the verge of the Orcish Diarchy - a region frequently plagued by orc raids. Her mother was the village's religion leader, who was raped by an orc brute during one of such raids. Brovara grew up seeking ways to protect the folk from the Orcish pillagers and decided to leave the village to join a paladin order residing in a monastery in one of the big cities.
"I strive to be the person that was needed when our homes burned, and people were at the mercy of those beasts..."
After finishing her training, she realized that the leaders of the order are not interested in protecting remote farmsteads. After a rowdy confrontation with the leader, she left the monastery, never to return and returned to the mountains. She gathered a group of rovers and adventurers and started hunting for any Orc parties that came too close to human settlements.
Fueled by her hatred towards Orcs and the desire to protect the mountain folk, she quickly rose to the status of a local heroine. Orcs cursed her and her never-ending hunt against their foraging expeditions until one day, she disappeared. Her next recollection is waking up in the Nine Hells, enslaved by the Devils.
Meeting the Crew
Brovara was rescued together with Ozmok. The Devilsfall Crew attacked a caravan transporting her to a camp in the Nine Hells. Feeling responsible for Ozmok, she joins the Crew to ensure he gets transported to his father safely.
Personal traits
Brovara is a straight-to-the-point kind of person, does not care much about showing good manners and, after the bitter disappointment in the monastery, strongly disregards hierarchy in any social group. Her priority is always the protection of others, even if it means breaking a few moral or legal rules. She is sensitive on the topic of family and her being a half-orc.
Being enslaved and taken to the Nine Hells and Meeting the Crew makes her realize that in the grand scheme of things, her actions as a local defender have very little impact and there must be another way of ensuring the safety of her folk.
