Strennun's Old One

Strennun (unwittingly) made a pact with a Dragon Turtle, a so-called Fiend.

The Dragon Turtle is a ginormous turtle that lives in the depths of the sea and only surfaces in the middle of the night sporadically. It is indescribably old, has seen empires rise and fall in what amounts to a blink of an eye in it's conscience. Mortals and their quarrels are therefore usually insignificant for it. However, every once in a while, it answers to cries of a mortal in plight, much like a human might move a pebble from the path of an ant. All it asks for, is loyalty and obedience if given a task.

One of these pebbles was Strennun's indenture with the pirates. As Strennun was 'praying' to the water, the sea, the ocean or whatever might hear it to free him. The turtle heard his cries - some might assume it is because of his special bond with everything related to water - and on a whim decided to aid this puny mortal.

Strennun, being too stupid to fully truly understand the commitment he's about to make, agreed to serve the Dragon Turtle as long as he might get out of his predicament.

The Dragon Turtle was a very benevolent patron and has not asked much of Strennun thus far. The only thing it 'asked' - or rather commanded - him and his group was to get rid of the Goblin King (described as 'fat green bastard'), as he and its followers were blasphemous against the Dragon Turtles. To encourage swift completion of said task, the Turtle would drown everybody involved with Strennun, if the Goblin King was not dealt with within seven days (See An Unexpected Dinner with Consequences.
